What documents do I need to hire Car in Portugal?
To hire a car in Portugal, you typically need the following documents:
- Valid Driver's License: You must have a valid driver's license issued in your home country or an International Driving Permit (IDP). The IDP is recommended if your license is not in English or Portuguese.
- Passport or ID Card: You'll need to provide a valid passport or national ID card as proof of your identity.
- Car Rental Payment and deposit: We accept debit cards or cash for your car hire. When you pick up the vehicle, we ask you to pay the rental car in cash or with a debit card and a deductible (in cash) which we will refund if there is no damage to the vehicle.
- Reservation Confirmation: If you made a reservation online or over the phone, it's advisable to have a printed or digital copy of the rental voucher or confirmation to present at the rental counter.
- Age Requirements: In Portugal, the minimum age for renting a car is usually 21 or 23 years, depending on the rental company. Some companies may impose additional fees or restrictions for drivers under 25 or over 70 years old.
- Additional Drivers' Documents: If you plan to have additional drivers, they will need to present their valid driver's licenses and passports or ID cards at the rental counter.

The prices shown are final and include all taxes. No deposit or prepayment is required for booking. Payment is made in full when the vehicle is handed over in cash or with a debit card.

Car hire insurance:
If the vehicle gets damaged while you have it, there is a limit on how much you will have to pay to repair or replace it. "Deductible" is the name for this limit. The car insurance covers the rest of the costs. So if something happens to the vehicle, you only have to pay a deductible of € 150.00 and we will take care of the rest. If the vehicle has not been damaged by the time you return it, you will receive the € 150 excess back. "Liability to third parties" means that the insurance covers damage caused to other persons, ie the insurance pays to third parties if you accidentally cause them injury, loss or damage. Theft of personal property is not insured. The insurance tariffs include liability and property damage, fire and theft of the vehicle, but not the customer's luggage and other personal items.
Additional driver is included in the price but still there are usually some requirements or conditions that need to be met. These conditions may include the Age of the second driver. If you want to add an extra driver, you need to provide their information and driver's license details to our rental company. This can typically be done at the time of reservation or when picking up the rental car. Both drivers should be aware of their responsibilities while driving the rental car, and they should return the vehicle in the same condition it was received.
Roads in Portugal:
Portugal has the National roads and Highways. If you care for safety, get easier and faster to your destination, we advise you to drive in the highways. If you have time and look for locals and small destinations, you can always look for the national roads. In fact, the national roads come first than the highways.

We have 2 highways in Portugal, and it depends on your destination to drive in each other. It is not possible to choose.
As you can see on the map there is highways in red and black.
They are all the same, but the difference is in the payment.
Black: Get a ticket at the beginning and pay on the exit.
Red: We pay and you give us the money when drop off the car.
